Museum, Kochetatskaya street 6

In 1933 Biriluskiy region became special resettlement. There arrived kulaks - prosperous peasants from Kuban villages, from German republic in Volga region, from central regions and areas of Russia. Till 1930 the population in this area was a little more than 15000 people. With inflow of immigrants the population of area totaled more than 30000 person. On the regions territory appeared new special settlements: Polevoe, Bokovoe, Sopka, Abolsk. Death rate among immigrants was huge. People died because of famine, change of a climate, illnesses. First immigrants lived in earth-houses, then appeared barracks.

In 1937 immigrants as well as other inhabitants of region have got under the next flywheel of reprisals. Of them began to form "counter-revolutionaries", "antiadvisers", "spies". Groups of "public enemies" almost in each settlement "came to light".

Now many former residents have left region. From a regions map have disappeared such settlement as Abolsk and Bokovoe. At present work on giving eternal memory of political reprisals victims is carried out, the following in this connection is already made:

  1. The first cemetery of kulaks - immigrants in settlement Polevoe is established. The cemetery is immured by concrete. On it mechanical workshops of former state farm " Field " are constructed.
  2. Materials devoted to this theme are regularly published in the regional newspaper "Noviy put" ("the New way").
  3. Names of the peasants who exposed to reprisals in Biriljusskiy region are found out. And names of those who served time in our region (among them 5 foreign citizens) are also found out.
  4. There is the permanent exposition devoted to a theme of political reprisals in a regional museum.
  5. Meetings of pupils with people who have survived of Stalin reprisals are on a regular basis carried out.
  6. We still try to find forgotten names; collect documents, things belonging to survived people, etc.

Main tasks for us are:

I work in museum only one and a half a year. This subject was lost of sight befor. I restored the record of 853 people who were repressed in Achinsk, I met with people and collected an information about this persons. I have connected with German society in Volga. We found the places of mass cemeteries because of wetness’ evidences.

Foreword target: to mark this places official.

Problems: people afraid to remember about the past and not in each family children know about ancestors’ life. I took exhibition in museum “People and fates”. As a result of this exhibition was an article “The dark page of past”. It was published in the Informational bulletin #3; a film “Devoted to the victims of political repression…” was made.

We have so much work in advance. We would like to have a constant exhibition, but we don’t have place for it.

Every year the pupils of the city protect the essays “History of family in history of country”.
