Raisa Karmazina compares Stalin’s Pantheon to the Egyptian pyramides

The destruction of the pantheon, once built to the honour of the leader of the peoples gives an example of how one should not treat one’s history. This is the opinion of Raisa Karmazina, deputy of the State Duma and member of the parliamentary party “United Russia”.

“Just as in any family, you will find dark and light spots with the State, as well. Here we have an example of how one should not deal with one’s own history. Think of the Egyptian pyramides. Think of how many slaves were involved in their construction and how many of them were killed. But nowadays they are bringing a great advantage – the country comes into money by tourists, who visit the pyramids in crowds. There are some dark spots with the origins of Sanct-Petersburg, too, - Karmazina said.

The deputy stressed out that she was against “the realization of any construction projects, when the buildings are later destroyed”.

We remind of the fact that they are planning to start on the reconstruction of the famous Pantheon to the honour of the leader of the peoples in the Turukhansk region, Krasnoyarsk Territory, this summer, just in the place, where the Soviet head of state, Josef Stalin, lived in exile – in the settlement of Kureyka. The original pantheon fell into decay between 1950 and 1990. A statue in commemoration of the generalissimo – 3,5 meters in height – has already been finished by its sculptor. Its investor is one of the local entrepreneurs, who intends to accelerate the development of tourism within the region.
