In the “Abakan” newspaper, N° 23; dated the 23th-29th August 2006 was published a notice captioned with the statement “Is Stalin deathless?!” It says that the communists of Abakan decided to erect a monument to the honour of J.V. Stalin near the “Victory” motion-picture theater in Abakan. They had already appealed to the mayor, in order to be assigned a suitable space for the erection of the monument.
We have gathered here today in order to commemorate the most distressing day in the life of our people, the day, when exactly 65 years ago, on the 28th August 1941, at an appointed time, based on Stalin’s ukase, all residents of the ASSR of the Volga-Germans were loaded on freight-cars and then deported to Siberia and Kasakhstan
We were forced to leave our houses, our cattle, all our property to the
arbitrariness of fate.
This was terror performed by the state – initiated by Stalin against his own
people.
Stalin remains one of the worst criminals of the 20th century in world history.
We must not even allow a single thought to come up regarding the perpetuation of the tyrant Stalin on the territory of the Republic of Khakassia, which became our second home.
We will address ourselves to the mayor of the city of Abakan – N.G. Bulakin, and the chairman of the Khakassian government – A.I. Lebed, enjoining them to allow under no circumstances the erection of any monuments in memory of the tyrant Stalin on Khakassian territory.
