Rehabilitation received

In our district there are quite a lot of people who suffered want and damages during the years of political repressions but later received their rehabilitation. Not long since, one of the inhabitants of the village of Karabanovka – Anna Ivanovna Sitnikova – received the confirmation about her rehabilitation, as well, because her parents lived in the Autonomous Socialist Soviet Republic of the Volga-Germans before the war. Shortly after the beginning of the first acts of war, all their family was deported by administrative means from their native place to Siberia – for national motives, just for being Germans. The whole deportation was implemented after the enacting of a decree of the Council of People’s Commissars and the Central Committee of the All-Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) dated the 12 September 1941.

Her father, Ivan Nikolaevich Elsenbach, and her mother, Varvara (Barbara) Filippovna Birwert, were exiled to the hamlet of Lipikha, Uporovsk District, Tiumen Regen. Soon after her mother was mobilized into the trud army. After she had returned home she got married to Ivan Nikolaevich. On the 9 April 1955 their daughter Anna was born. Due to the fact that her parents were in the state of forced resettlers at that time, Anna Ivanovna has now been officially acknowledged a victim of political repressions; hence she received her rehabilitation with good cause. The certificate was issued by the State Authority of the Interior of the Tiumen Region on the 15 April 2010. Based on this document the Department of Pensions initiated the revaluation of her monthly pension, and staff members of the Social Welfare Office accordered her a certificate entitling her to claim benefits.
