With the collaboration of the regional social organization of victims of illegal persecution “Union of rehabilitated persons in Krasnoyarsk Territory”, which belongs to the open council of the region, as well as the “Memorial” organization people remembered the victims of political repressions in Kransoyarsk Museum Center on Day of Commemoration of the victims of political repressions.
The key issue of the events – 76 years after the Great Terror – was reflected in lectures and illustrated talk: „Persecutions in documents and photos“. The chairwoman of the Union of rehabilitated persons in Krasnoyarsk, Ella Tsutskareva, noted that this year public organizations from Sosnovoborsk, Divnogorsk, Yemelyanovo and Beresovka had taken part in the commemoration ceremonies – organizations which are doing active, social and illuminating work. „The history of one’s country must under no circumstances fall into oblivion. Repressions were one of the tragic pages in her chronicle. Millions of state residents had to suffer hunger, afflictions and deprivations. The events of that time, by which many families were affected, will be retained in memory for the rest of life. It is now our task to research the history of people, who had to undergo political persecution, study their fates using the examples of fellow countrymen from the Krasnoyarsk Territory, commemorate the victims of political repressions and let the growing up generation know about it”, Ella Tsutskareva said.
Aleksei Babiy, head of the Krasnoyarsk „Memorial“ organization of historic illumination, human rights and social welfare, talked about the expropriation of farmers in Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The attention of the veterans was particularly attracted by the exhibition „Letters on birch bark from Siberia“, which showed „living“ exhibits – letters on birch bark, written in Siberian prisons and places of exile. In the course of the events there was a concert given by an instrumental quartet, the musicians’ repertoire comprised romances and songs from war times. The event ended with a minute’s silence and a solemn flower ceremony. Flowers were lain down at the memorial stone to honor the victims of political repressions.
