Bela Ananyevna lived in KRASNOYARSK, in Lunacharsky Street No. 64, together with her parents. Her father, Ananiy Mikhailovich STEINGART (1911-1961), a Jew, was born in the little village of Terentyevka (not far from the village of Esaulovo, today district of Beryosovka). He was the younger brother of L. STEINGART (also see Exile/Camp Report given by R.L. Ivanova), a shoemaker and also a very good musician. He played the drums, trumpet and other wind instruments. He was drafted, but was allowed to stay in KRASNOYARSK – where he played in the military brass band.
The Communists arrested him at home on the 21.11.1941, in the evening. He was sentenced to 10 years in accordance with the decision of the „Special Board“ dated 03.06.1942, on section 58-10, 2. As from September 1948 he served his sentence in the 2nd camp sector of the NORILLag (where he lay in the Central Hospital from 06.-11.09.1948 and again from 05.-14.05.1949). During this time he worked as a shoemaker. In 1950 he was permitted to go to work without escort, and on the 09.01.1951 he was released early for highly-productive labor. He stayed in Norilsk until the summer, then moved to Chernogorsk. Later he lived in Abakan.
