Liubov Tagievna Kokorina was born in the Kasachinsk District in 1954. Her mother, Yekaterina (Katharina) Jakobi (born 1916) lived in the Saratov Region; she worked as a milkmaid. They had a good life, had everything you can imagine (a piece of land, their own house, a farmstead and much more).
In1941 they were subject to repression and deported to the Kasachinsk District; they were taken there by barge. Within 24 hours they had to pack their belongings (we can understand very well that this is not enough time to get sufficiently prepared); hence, they just took along the mostly needed. After resettlement she was working for the brickworks. The locals behaved in quite different ways towards them: some showed a friendly attitude, others did not care at all who they were and were they came from. Life proved to be very hard for them; there were serious language problems, which often lead to difficulties at work and misunderstandings with local inhabitants. Moreover, they were permanently forced to go and get registered with the commandant’s office. Many years later they received compensation for what they had left behind in their home village. .
Unfortunately, L.T. could not tell really much about what her mother head to go through in those years. Nothing has been left to recall her mother’s life – no photos, no documents, nothing… (We often do not see a valuable object in a simple little something, but then something happens and we understand, how much we have lost in our lives.)
