Daniel Danilovisch Scheffer, born 04.01.1951
The family was deported from the Volga region in 1942. At first they resettled in the village of Karabula; later they removed to Boguchany, where D.D. Scheffer was born. At the time when these memoirs were recorded, there were no documents with the family anymore, which could have proved the fact that they had been victims of repressions, with the exception of Daniel Danilovich’s rehabilitation certificate.
He himself is hardly able to recall the events of that time, but he still recalls on thing. Every now and then, other Germans who lived in Boguchany, would gather in their house; and then they used to talk in their German mother-tongue, but in avery low voice, as if they were afraid of something. They did not teach him or any of the other children German.
His mother was rehabilitated in the late 1980s. Her rehabilitation certificate is not being kept with the family anymore.
