Not always and not everywhere: hundreds of thousands, and even millions of prisoners were being kept in camps for years, without knowing the section, on which they had been sentenced or the term of confinement. This, on the whole, applied to those, who had been imposed a term of confinement by the "Special Board" during the 1940s. But also in 1938 it would happen that a convict train car was simply unloaded at a camp, where the prisoners were informed, immediately or later, about their term of confinement.
