Journalists about the victims of repressions

On the Day of commemoration of the victims of political repressions in the House of Journalists were evaluated the results of a regional competition of journalistic papers dedicated to theyear of Great Terror exactly 70 years ago. The presentation ceremony was held there, as well.

The competition was organized by the Krasnoyarsk “Memorial” Organization and the Journalists’ Union of the Krasnoyarsk territory. The aim of the competitionwas to publish factual representations of the tragic history of Stalin’s terror in the massmedia. Apart from this it was intended to inspire the authors to creative activities. Participants of the competition were not only professional journalists but also freelance correspondants and even simple residents of our region.

The winners nominated for “the best material (series of materials) in regional newspapers” were: Olga Lobzina (“Arguments and Facts on the Yenisey”, 1st place), Valentina Maistrenko (“Today’s Newspaper”, 2nd place) and Eduard Rusakov “Krasnoarsk Worker”, 3rd place).

Prizewinners du to an outstanding treatmnt and presentation of the Great Terror on the pages of district (town) newspapers were: Irina Aplesneva (“Taimyr Newspaper”, 1st place), Vladimir Uskov (“News” – newspaper edited for the Bolsheuluisk District) and Lilia Entsova (“Victory” – newspaper edited for the “Nizhneingashsk Disitrict) – they both shared the 2nd place.

The winners from among the TV journalists were: Sergei Gerasimov (Russian State Broadcasting Company / State Boradcasting Company “Krasnoyarsk”, 1st place) for his series “Teachings of History”, Andrei Grishakov (Krasnoyarsk Broadcasting Company “Afontovo”, 2nd place) for his film “The Road of Death”, as well as Oksana Batueva (TV station “New Region”, 3rd place, for her telecast about the eportation of the Russian Germans.

Moreover, the members of the jury decided to grant promotion awards to young student correspondants. They were awarded to Daria Lasun from the village of Beliy Yar, Achinsk District, and Julia Andon from Boguchan. Regardless of the competition they awarded a prize to the book “There was silence” by the Krasnoyarsk journalist and author Vasiliy Kustov, which he dedicated to the victims of political repressions. The author published the book at his own expenses. All winners received diploma and cash prizes.
