Irma Aleksandrovna Junker

Statement of a victim of repression

23 September 1938
Volgograd Region
Palasoksk District
Village Strassburg

Father – Miller, Aleksander Christianovich - 1914
Mother – Miller, Yekaterina Davidovna – 1916
Miller, Maria Eduardovna
Saurwein, Galina Ivanovna

Mother worked as a milkmaid on the stockyard throught her whole life; she died in 1975.

Father worked as a mechanic; he died in 1988.

Upon Stalin’s order all Volga Germans were deported to Siberia. Within 24 hours they had to get ready to leave.

In August 1941 (editor’s note: this was most probably in October) they brought us to the village of Khloptunovo. We lived there until 1952. That very year they started to construct the 9th district (the closed town of Krasnoyarsk-26, today called Zheleznogorsk; translator’s note). Once again we were resettled – to the village of Shipulino; in 1957 we removed to Sukhobusimo by our own decision. We still live there today.

They looked at us as if we were enemies of the people. Nobody ever tried to help us. We went through very hard times.

The above material was arranged by the Sukhobusimo Museum of Local Lore.
