Exile /Camp report given by Arthur Filippovich Lorey

The deportation process from the hamlet of Kutter, Balzer Canton, Volga-German ASSR, was carried through a little later than the displacement of people from Dönhof (Kutter is situated between Dönhof and Balzer). The following families were first deported from Kutter to Krasnoyarsk, where they were forced to get on a barge, which took them to the village of Borki, Daurian District, Krasnoyarsk Territory (this are is now flooded by the Krasnoyarsk Sea).

Maria Genrichovna (Heinrichovna) Lorey (1893-1977), her son Arthur Filippovich (born in 1926), the daughters Maria (born around 1915), Bertha (1924-1985), Elsa (born in 1930), Yekaterina (about 1917-1957) as well as her daughter Tamara (born in 1939). Maria Genrichovna Lorey’s husband, Filipp Lorey, starved to death in 1933. Her son Vasiliy (born around 1920) served in the army as from 1939.

Piada Lorey (about 1900-1986), her daughter Amalia (born around 1924), her sons Alexander (born around 1917), Andrey (born around 1920) and Pavel (born in 1930. Her husband, Adam Lorey, was arrested in 1937. Nothing is known about his fate (a corresponding query was sent to the authorities on the 8 May 1990).

Vasiliy Frank (born around 1895, Piada Lorey’s brother), his wife Amalia (born around 1895), their daughters Naimi (born in 1920), Selma (born around 1922), Amalia (born in 1924), Emilia (born in 1930), their sons Vasiliy (born in 1923), Andrey (born in 1928) and Emmanuel (born around 1935).

Jakob Rafschnaider (born around 1915), his wife Natalia (born around 1915, sister of Vasiliy Frank and Piada Lorey), and their daughter Elya (or Ella, born around 1939).

More Germans were not deported to Borki. And there were no other deporteed or exiles either. The local residents behaved fairly well towards them.

In the very same autumn the military registration and enlistment office fetched Arthur Filippovich into the „trudarmy“.

His sisters Maria and Bertha were chased to Igarka in the spring of 1942. About the same time Piada Lorey’s entire family was sent to the Ural Mountains, except little Pavel (for he was „not yet able to work“). He stayed with Maria Lorey’s family in Borki. They also had to leave their daughter Yekaterina behind, as she was an invalid. The Frank and Rafschnaider families were also sent away from Borki in 1942.

After their release, Arthur Filippovich’s sisters Maria and Bertha stayed in Igarka; Elsa lives in Balakhtinsk District, Krasnoyarsk Territory. Alexander Lorey lives in Chimkent.
