Rau Eduard Aleksandrovich

Statement of a victim of repression

22.06.1932

Volgograd Region, Palasovsk District, village of Romashki

Mother – Rau, Rosa Aleksandrovna – home help
Father – Rau, Aleksander Davidovich – tractorist for the kolkhoz farm
Ella (born 1934), Arthur (born 1938), Alwija (born 1950), Viktor (born 1951), Andrei (born 1953).

Ella lives in Germany, she is a pensioner. Arthur lives in Germany as a retiree, too; Alwija lives in Germany, she is working as a governess; Viktor lives in Krasnoyarsk, he is a businessman. Andrei lives in Germany, he is engaged in farming.

They were deported because of the war (against Germany; translator’s note) – without any charge or without being officially blamed.

In 1941 they were transported to Sedelnikovo, in 1942 the removed to Tolstomysovo and from there to Sukhobuzimskoe in 1972.

The young people called them “Fritzes”, Germans. Asa general rule they were hurt and offended. There was no help to be expected from anybody.

The worst recollection are thoughts about pangs of hunger and cold.

Would have like to receive a good education.Always wished to return to her home regions one day.

The material was arranged by the Sukhobuzimsk Museum of Local Lore
