Exile / Camp Report given by Alexander Petrovich Schnaider

In the years 1948-1949 a number of Lithuanian families lived in internal exile not far away from the railway station of SOLYANKA, RYBINSK district, KRASNOYARSK region. They had been deported there in the second half of the 1940s.

In section No. 2 of the experimental econonmy unit, 14 kms away from the station, in the village of MASLOVO (today unhabited), there lived about four families - among them Vatis VACHIKAUSKIS (born 1939) with his parents. In section No. 3, which was about 8 kms away from the station, there were five Lithuanian families, including:

Late in the 1950s or early in the 1960s all Lithuanians returned to their home country.

Vassiliy Andreyevich GAAS (or HAAS), born in 1920, German, was arrested in the Altai region in 1938. They sentenced him to 10 yeras. He served his time in the KRASLag. After his release in 1948 he lived in the settlement of SOLYANKA. In 1949 he was arrested again and sent to exile to BOGUCHANIY. He worked there as an assistant manager (in charge of the premises) for the district hospital. Today he lives in the Rostov region, Martynovsk district, settlement of Novosadkovka.
